Le Four Electrique
Belge, precursor of the current company Le Four
Industriel Belge, has been established in Antwerp
on April 26, 1936.
The first realisations were heated
electrically and were aimed at Antwerp-based companies
such as the Antwerp tramways and the SNCB (Société
Nationale des Chemins de Fer – Belgian National
Company of Railways).
The fabrication started
in the cellar of a private house but a workshop
has rapidly been rented in order to build and to
assemble bigger installations.
1944 :
On November 15, 1944, a nazi V2 rocket
destroyed the workshops and the fabrication was interrupted
to start again a few weeks later, in some makeshift sheds.
