The
presence of lead especially at working temperatures such as 600°C involves
management problems of the work environment.
Therefore the use of the fluidised bed is becoming attractive.
Based on the technology of diffusion fluidised bed (See the
section Steelcord), it presents the big advantage not to use lead and allows
to work along the whole process without inflexion.
Destined in the end to replace the lead, the tempering fluidised
bed needs however the previous elimination of the oil residues or of polymers.
Indeed, these elements are reacting against sand and involve an agglomeration
of crusts around the diffusers, which is harmful for the good working of these
devices.
