Nitrogen wiping technology

Nitrogen wiping technologyDeveloped in the aim of better controlling the zinc weight individually while being less dependent on the qualities of the operator, the N2 wiping has been launched by FIB in 1998.

This technology which is showing a series of advantages compared to H2S wiping and which is the only technology that is responding to the necessity of working with galfan is having a great success among galvanizers.

The system is allowing to adjust the zinc quantity while adapting a flow of nitrogen and is therefore optimising the quantity of zinc for each wire.

While the H2S wiping was not very effective in the diameter range of wires under 1,6 mm, the N2 wiping is allowing to obtain a brilliant and smooth wire surface up to the obtaining of final wire coatings.

Independently from the operator's qualifications, the standard deviation obtained with such a system is leading to the achieving of extremely sharp zinc coatings allowing either the obtaining of final galvanized products or the facility of a subsequent wire-drawing operation.

The nitrogen wiping, with its modular design thanks to which the system can easily be adapted to very different diameters in just a few minutes, can be used in a diameter range going from 0,5 up to 8 mm for high carbon and up to 13 mm for low carbon wires.

Its wiping ring is also allowing to control a good coating concentricity.

Also used for galfan, the N2 wiping system can also be combined with a monitoring system that is then continuously controlling the zinc quantity while adjusting the quantity of nitrogen blown in the nozzle according to the zinc weight measured by a detector located either on the tower or on the take-ups bench.

Advantages :

- System allowing the optimisation of the zinc coating weight by wire
- More than 100 wires equipped with this sytem
- Experience from 1 mm to 13 mm
- Compatible with Galfan ® technology
- Increasing of the wire speed of almost 300% compared to charcoal wiping
- Sharp standard deviation of zinc coating weight
- Possibility to achieve at high speed a smooth surface for wire size down to 1 mm
- Less work for the operator
- Easy threading of the wires
- Coupling with a continuous monitoring of the zinc coating weight (optional)
