High Carbon Wire Line | Ecoquench

Back to overview

Introduction

The quenching operation sets the structure and consequently the final tensile of the wire. In this frame the quenching process must be fast and with an homogeneous cooling under control across the entire wire field.

In this frame FIB offers 2 sound technologies: the FIB Lead Bath quenching and for those for which the use of lead is problematic or risky versus their soil preservation on long term, the lead free fluidized bed “FIB Ecoquench”.

The FIB Ecoquench has proven its capacity to handle wires sizes as thin as 0,6 mm for the saw wire technology up to 14 mm diameter in the rope technology.

Covering steel cord, saw wire and the rope technology our fluidized bed has shown its capacity to match with the most severe products to process.

Ecoquench

Your wins

  • Applicable for large applications as sawing wire, steel cord or wires for the rope industry
  • 24 units operating in the steel cord - Saw wire field and 8 in the rope industry (April 2010)
  • From 0,6 to the extreme 14 mm: the FIB Ecoquench has been applied to a large range of products
  • Accept high speed and high soaking temperature processing with no risks of lead pick-up

    • Optimizing of the quenching of the wires with a very efficient cooled zone: special quenching design
    • Minimized sand quantities
    • Small sections to help the threading of the wires

    FIB facts

FIB is mastering the fluidized bed since 1988 and from its experience has settled a new generation of quenching fluidized bed in 1995. The ECO (Ecological) QUENCH has been developped to allow a rapid quenching without the risk of bainite formation in combination with compatible soaking conditions.
