Founded
in 1936 in Antwerp, BELGIUM, the Brussels based company
FIB – Le Four Industriel Belge – is a manufacturer
of industrial furnaces for various sectors mainly in
the field of steel wire but is also supplying heating
equipment to glass, ceramic, heat treatment and non
ferrous industries.
The
FIB core business are equipments used to process steel
wires where the company is a world-wide leading supplier
that frequently receives the “number one”
label.
The range of products in this field includes batch heat
treatment installations and continuous lines for patenting
lines, annealing, galvanizing and oil tempered wires.
Wires processed on these installations will become tire
cord, spring, lift and crane cables, dry clean hangers,
nails, piano wire, staples to mention just a few end
products.
Within that framework, FIB is a major
supplier to many famous companies such as Bekaert, Pirelli,
Goodyear, Kiswire and Sumitomo amongst 134 global customers
located in 30 countries, most of them are long-term
customers who not only have one but several FIB installations.
Our policy is to continually develop
new and innovative technologies. A recent development
that became winning equipment for the galvanizing of
steel wire is the dynamic wiping. It allows fine and
accurate control of the quantity of zinc on the wire.
Nowadays, continuous galvanizing lines have to run at
higher and higher speeds and the control of the zinc
coating was becoming a critical challenge parameter
to master. FIB holds the solution. Demand is rising
and the reference list in this field is continually
growing month by month.
Well
known in the non-ferrous field and in the glass industry,
the FIB combustion equipment (Constan mixer, impulse
burners, TAGU) with very low NOx emissions is applied
in many heating technologies like forehearth, lehr,
high tech ceramic furnaces, melting furnaces for copper,
aluminium melting furnaces and so on and tunnel kilns
for sanitary !
Indeed
this genuine gas-fired heating equipment based on the
premix technique, offers a complete control of the atmosphere
in the furnace. This technique consists in one device
mixing the air and gas in correct and stable proportions
to feed several burners with this pre-mixing of air
and gas. Of course, within that framework, we have also
a range of air/gas separated burners for applications
like in high-tech ceramic technology.
It
must also be highlighted that FIB is producing in some
cases special furnaces like we did for the polymerisation
of some pieces on the Airbus wings (Sonaca), tempering
furnaces for the testing of skyscraper windows, recovery
of glass fibres by hot process (INIEX), forging furnaces,
backing of high voltage insulators (NGK) and so on.
To
promote its products, the Brussels based sales team
works in co-operation with 23 agents located all across
the world.
